Bellah believe that individualism has a bad effect on American society. He says " the belief in individualism is powerful. Sometimes Americans pay too much attention to individual goals. " He also mentions that in such a system, " only a small number of people can be winners. These few people will have most of the money,power, and freedom. Everyone else loses." I agree with Bellah because in society these days we can't work alone unless we open our own business, but most of the time we depend on others.
Even if we are not individualism we can save little to spend freedom. Not all people agree with mainstream values in the United States. For example, many people who are poor or live in neighborhood that separated from the rest of American society, they didn't agree with Bellah because those poor people can't work alone, they need money to live and food to eat so that's why they disagree with him.
